What is the difference between open and closed questions?

Learn about the different types of answers you can get

Shortlist+ allows you to get answers to questions set by you:

Open questions encourage a longer meaningful answer of the applicant’s knowledge and feelings. These are generally recommended. Applicants answer these questions by telling you their answer which we record.

Closed questions ask the applicant to choose between Yes/No. For example "Do you have a valid driving license with no points?" Applicants answer Yes/No questions via our telephone-screening answer by pressing “1” for Yes or “2” for No.

An additional benefit with Closed questions is an applicant does not provide a desired answer they can be automatically excluded.
